Before you gear up for a cosy winter with your Cannon gas log heater, make sure you take the time to get a service and internal clean by a qualified Cannon technician, or another registered or licensed gasfitter.

Like you would service your car, servicing your gas log heater at regular intervals is a sure-fire way to get the most from your heating for years to come.

Cleaning Tips

For safety reasons, a technician must carry out cleaning of internal parts of your heater during a service. However, if you would like to clean your heater externally, just make sure the heater is cold and turned off.

We recommend using a damp lint-free cloth to wipe exterior metal surfaces and a nonabrasive spray for any stubborn stains. Avoid any harsh cleaners though, as they can damage the paint finish.

You can clean your double glazed glass window with a gentle liquid cleaner or household spray-on glass cleaner. Once again, avoid tough cleaning products or materials that scour and be gentle with cleaning pressure; and your heater will be safe from any superficial damage.

Servicing your Cannon

We recommend an annual service is carried out on your gas log heater, with up to two services a year in homes that experience excessive lint build up from pets or carpeting (for example, before and after the colder seasons).

Rest assured that our Canterbury Classic and Fitzroy Profile heaters come with a 3-year warranty, with a 10-year warranty on the heat exchanger parts.

Our new Cannon Latitude range come with a 2-year warranty on full parts & labour, and a 5-year warranty on fireplace & heat exchanger parts.

This means that Cannon ensures your heater is free from defects in materials and workmanship during the warranty term, although, it’s important to note that the warranty does not include the cost of your annual services.

Gas Safety

Your safety is extremely important to us. Government regulators encourage gas appliance servicing at least once in every two years to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.

With the exception of our Powerflue heaters, ensure there is always adequate ventilation coming into the room (such as a slightly ajar window or door open to another room). The Powerflues don’t require a ventilated room, as they’re a fully sealed unit.
